Ripponden
There will be an Abseil and Zip Line at Baitings Dam, Ripponden on Saturday 21st June 2008. The event is to raise money, via sponsorship, for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution. For further details on how you can take part please see their Website.
Sowerby
The Calderdale Mountain Bike Marathon Sunday 12th October 2008
An annual 26 mile cycling challenge for all with full support and back up

The 31st Calderdale Hike will take place on a Saturday in April 2009.
The hike is open to all walkers and runners over the age of 14 on the day of the hike. 28 mile and 37 mile routes with full support and back up.

Sowerby Bridge
The annual Rushbearing Festival will take place in and around Sowerby Bridge on the 6 - 7th September 2008. The route starts from Warley on the Saturday morning and proceeds to Sowerby Bridge. On the Sunday the procession starts at Sowerby Village and runs over the moors to Cottonstones and Mill Bank and finishes in Ripponden.
The Brow Hike, a 22 mile, 2 day incident hike for youth organisations.
Next years event will be held in March 2009. Participants MUST be between the ages of 11 and 15 years on the day of the hike. For more information please contact Steve Hickman on 01422 341255 or see the website
