Dry Stone Walls and Livestock

The dry stone walls that define the field systems in the North Yorkshire Dales are picturesque. The dry stone walls that comprise Low Far Side are in a general state of decline. The boggy grass that forms the basis is far from the ideal footing. Probably, the standards of building were not the highest, either. Agriculture played an important role on Greenhow, combined with lead-mining, to provide sustenance to inhabitants.
